Third Year Capstone - Dwarven Helmet

I used a bit of an unorthodox method to get the Celtic knot just right, by using Substance Painter's displacement features with my high-res model after I had done initial sculpting detail. It was certainly a different way to get the look I wanted cleanly.

As one of the (many) pieces in my capstone, I present this Dwarven Helmet! It is a companion piece to an axe model that I textured a bit earlier in the year. It was modeled low-poly by myself and detailed in Blender using their sculpting tools, before being baked and textured in Substance Painter, and finally rendered back in Blender with their spiffy Eevee engine.

The original concept of the helmet was based on an illustration by Dmytro Dovgan, though I deviated in some places to better pair with the existing axe mesh/design I had already, like with the celtic knot design along the top ridge. Still, I encourage you to check out the original design here, as it really helped me grasp the stylized proportions I was going for when translating to a 3D space.
